QSI Phuket is a non-profit American school that opened in Kathu in 2000, part of Quality Schools International, a network of more than 35 schools around the world.
It follows the QSI mastery learning model, where students move on once they have mastered each defined outcome rather than simply at the end of a term, and it offers Advanced Placement courses and a US high school diploma at the top of the school. That suits families heading for American or Canadian universities, and families who move between QSI schools in other countries.
QSI is small, with around 150 students, which gives it a close community feel. Fees are set in US dollars, so the baht figure moves with the exchange rate, and secondary students pay an annual capital fund fee on top of tuition.
